What Quotes do You Love and Live By?

Like you, there have been times in my life where a quote, a saying, an expression, has perfectly described me, like the person, decades or centuries before, must have KNOWN I’d need to hear them. These have become pithy sayings I’ve written down or memorized and, truthfully, they are the quotes I love and live by, the sayings I repeat so often my kids stop me before I finish “Mom. We know. We got it.” Right.

During college, I started writing quotes on sticky notes (long before there was a “notes” app on a mobile phone) and strategically placing them in my desk drawers. It’s become a habit – so I still find them stuck in my Bible, in my makeup drawer, sometimes even in my closet, as though I wrote down the quote and didn’t know where to stash it.

Give yourself, and them, a little bit of grace.

Do it big, or stay in bed.

Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Put on a little lipstick, everything will be fine.

I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.

    And I love so many quotes! But some I try to live by are:
    “The more you recognize and express gratitude for the things you have, the more things you will have to express gratitude for.”
    “You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.”
    “Being negative only makes a difficult journey more difficult. You may be given a cactus, but you don’t have to sit on it.”

  6. I like your list! Here are two of my go-to’s. I sometimes change the label of the alarms on my phone so these are the first things I see when I wake up. 🙂
