Hi. My parents named me Katherine so they could call me Katie, though friends throughout my life (mostly in college when everyone was smarter and cooler than everyone else) have tried to convince me that Kate or Kat or Kitty was smarter or cooler. I’m still just Katie. I was born in Shreveport, LA but grew up in East Texas with my four younger brothers and sisters. We learned to water ski, slide down icy hills on cookie sheets and know the difference between shrimp etouffee and creole.
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 2002, I moved to College Station, TX to complete my master’s degree, then to Houston. There, I worked for several years for different hospitals as a major gifts fundraiser before meeting and marrying my husband, Steve. Since then, we’ve lived in Phoenix, New Jersey and Tyler, TX. But since 2019, we’ve called Boise, ID home. Roller coaster. All the time.
I am mom to Nick and Jacob who both serve in the US Air Force, Ellie, our feisty 9 year old girl and Tommy and Olivia, our entertaining twin 6 year olds. Here we are, trying to make the most of our time on earth while navigating the everyday triumphs and fall-flat-on-your-faces.
I’m in love with coffee, cab and queso. Depends on the day, or let’s be honest, the time of day. None of them can be weak, though. Robust, intense and worth it.
This place is just about the happiness, revelations and endurances of daily life, nothing unusual or really very extraordinary, so it reminds me of Seinfeld in that way. But somehow, those nothing moments, right?, are the ones that make us who we are and how we love others. So welcome to my village.
Wait. Village sounds so quaint. That’s not right. My life is not a village, it’s a traveling circus.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you stay awhile.
